This rail system begins in downtown Austin near the Convention Center, very close to Austin's Lady Bird Lake. On Lady Bird Lake, there are many opportunities for excercise such as rowing in the lake, and the very long hike and bike trails. There are many condos in this area with quick access to Lady Bird' amenities as well as Austin's Sixth Street Entertainment District which is also a protected historical district. Many of Austin's most sophisticated employers are downtown. Wonderful dining is also available in downtown Austin.
The next stop is in the historic, and rapidly developing East Austin Neighborhood at the Plaza Saltillo. Many affordable condos and single family homes are in this area, providing easy access to the North shore of Lady Bird Lake and downtown Austin. Unique dining and cultural opportunities abound.

These neighborhoods provide very affordable homes.
Then, the MetroRail commuter train turns West to the Lakeline Mall Station near Cedar Park, just after crossing three major highways that provide easy access to many points North, East, West and South, including Leander, Round Rock and Georgetown. A large node of retail stores and employment is centered here.
The final stop for Austin's first commuter rail, heading Northwest, is the Leander Station. Here there are a number of newer homes covering a wide range of size and amenities. Any of these homes offer excellent value for the price.
Perhaps by design, most of the areas served by Austin's MetroRail service are areas that will gain value due to this upgrade to each area's mobility, gaining more value as the costs of fuels inevitably rise and urban congestion increases.
